About

Clarence Zebras Football Club is based on the Eastern Shore of Hobart, Tasmania. We formed in September of 2019 as a partnership between Clarence United FC and Hobart Zebras FC. We are a competitive, community-focused club that strives to provide a space for all that love football.

Our club competes across most divisions of Tasmanian Football. This includes the NPL, Youth and Junior programs and a range of social divisions. We have temporally withdrawn from the Womens super league as we take time to rebuild our womens program.

Club History

While Clarence Zebras is a new club making strides in the Tasmanian football scene, it is important to us to acknowledge the storied history behind the two entities that make up the club we know today.

Clarence United

Clarence United FC was formed in 1978 under the name “Phoenix Rovers Soccer Club” after a noticeable lack of Football clubs on the Eastern Shore. After seasons of varied success, the club was renamed Clarence United FC in 1998 and secured its position in the men’s Statewide League in 1999. In the 2000’s the club grew in numbers and successes in the men’s and women’s competitions. Recent results for the club in the NPL and Super League have not been successful, but a strong youth presence and successes was a notable achievement.

Hobart Zebras

Hobart Zebras FC was founded in 1956 in conjunction with the forming of the Australian Italian Club under the name “Juventus Soccer Club”. The club experienced a lot of success throughout the 60’s and 70’s, including a promotion into the state league in 1979. The club became known as Hobart Zebras FC in 1998. Hobart Zebras have been competitive in the NPL competition and the Super League in the past few years, with the women taking out the title in 2019.
